Santiago Patiño’s long history of bank operations expertise is a valuable to asset to Cornerstone, where among other services, Santiago manages benchmarking and best practices assessments for Cornerstone’s bank and credit union clients. He also provides extensive system selection advisory services, including conversion oversight.
Prior to his Cornerstone affiliation, Santiago served as Director of Corporate Operations for a $17 billion community bank, where he oversaw 300 employees in the areas of Item Processing, Loan Operations, Deposit Operations, ATM Operations, Proof & Control, Corporate Services and General Services. While working for the bank, Santiago also chaired the corporation’s Revenue Enhancement Committee for 10 years.
Santiago has consolidated a bank’s consumer and business banking loan operations departments. He coordinated numerous mergers and developed the operational requirements that ensured smooth transitions. He has in-sourced all check processing and statement rendering operations, expanded a bank’s cash management services, and consolidated non-revenue producing functions from the branch system into back office areas.
Santiago attended Saint Joseph’s College, Philadelphia, and is a graduate of the ABA National Trust School at Northwestern University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware. He was a contributing author for The Cornerstone Report: Benchmarks and Best Practices for Mid-Size Banks and has written for GonzoBanker and Credit Union Management (a publication of the Credit Union Executives Society).
